BALDWIN — District Health Department #10 has lifted the harmful algae bloom advisory for the North Lake Public Access Site in Lake County, issued July 30 in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.
Per an Aug. 15 news release, while the advisory is no longer in effect, the department continues to advise residents and visitors to avoid areas where algal blooms are present. Signs will be posted near the access site to promote algae awareness.
Officials recommend avoiding direct contact with waterways that appear scummy or green, not drinking untreated surface water, obeying posted public health advisories and limiting or avoiding eating fish from areas affected by blooms.
