The Summit County Council gave its final approval of the 910 Cattle Ranch’s conservation easement this week, paving the way for the county Lands and Natural Resources division to close the deal on the 8,500-acre Jeremy Ranch property by the end of September.
Department director Jess Kirby spoke to councilors on Wednesday about the final details of the conservation easement and the baseline documentation report, which describes the current conditions of the property in an almost 250-page document.
The county optioned the 910 Cattle Ranch in August 2023 by using $15 million from a voter-approved general obligation bond passed in 2021 to preserve open space as a down payment toward the $55 million total. The U.S. Forest Service then awarded a $40 million grant to Summit County in the summer
