TOWN OF LOWELL, Wis. -- A train derailed Friday in rural Dodge County, law enforcement in the area said.
At around 2:05 p.m., a Canadian Pacific Train derailed between Maiden Lane Road and the Village of Reeseville, in the Town of Lowell. The train has 95 cars, and about 22 went off the tracks.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, the train was carrying crude oil. Some of the oil is believed to have leaked from the derailed cars, but there is no immediate danger to the public.
Nobody was hurt in the derailment, including the train's crew. Nobody in the area will be required to evacuate, however one person did voluntarily leave their home so emergency crews could work.
The public is asked to avoid the area. The scene is secure and cleanup efforts are underway.
