MILWAUKEE — Crews recovered the body of a 24-year-old man from Lake Michigan at South Shore Beach in Milwaukee on Friday, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

Milwaukee Police, Milwaukee Fire, and Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office crews all responded to the beach at about 5:30 a.m. Friday.

According to a news release from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the man had visited the beach to "swim in Lake Michigan with friends after an evening out socializing, during which alcohol may have been consumed."

The man was unable to swim or unable to swim very well, the news release says.
