CLEVELAND — Karl Racine, Cleveland's lead police reform monitor whose law firm oversaw the city's consent decree compliance process for the last two years, stepped down from the position Wednesday during a status conference in federal court.
3News has obtained the resignation letter Racine submitted to U.S. District Senior Judge Solomon Oliver Jr., as well as Oliver's court order naming the interim monitor and deputy monitor who will take over for Racine and Hogan Lovells overseeing Cleveland's consent decree compliance.

In a letter dated Tuesday, Aug. 12, Racine wrote to the court to "confirm my intention to step down as the Monitor of the Consent Decree to which the City of Cleveland voluntarily entered into with the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) in 2015
