SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. -- A Milwaukee-area attorney will lead an independent investigation, at the request of the Sun Prairie Board of Education, after a former school staffer was charged with child sex crimes.

The attorney, who has no prior connection to the district, will review how information about the alleged crimes was managed by Sun Prairie West High School and the Sun Prairie Area School District.

The move comes amid community outcry following the arrest of former Sun Prairie West High School dean Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier. He is charged with two counts of child sexual exploitation and 13 counts of possession of child pornography.
