NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Looking to brighten someone's day?

Sending an unexpected bouquet of flowers will usually put a smile on their face.

That's why a North Kingstown florist has come up with a creative way to make strangers' days.

Pamela Arnold, owner of Flowers by Bert and Peg, decided one day to spread some joy by giving out free carnations — but there's a catch.

In order to receive a free flower, you must have the shop's name of the day.

Arnold told 12 News she started picking first names three years ago from a random online generator and never looked back.

"You don't know what kind of day somebody is having," she explained. "So, to do a small gesture like that is great."
