RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Move-in day at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) for most of the incoming freshman class began Friday, August 15. This class is on track to be the second largest in university history with more than 4,500 students enrolled.
College move-in day marks the start of a new chapter for incoming freshmen and a bittersweet day for the loved ones dropping them off. A dozen parents told 8News they were impressed with what a well-oiled machine the process was.
“The empty nest is happening," Bryan Dawson said. "It’s really emotional."
From Arlington, Dawson dropped off his son Vajk, who plans to study history.
“We’re so proud," Dawson said. "We’re so excited for him. At the same time, we’re gonna miss the hell out of him.”
