Welcome to Week in Iowa.

Kicking off last week, the Iowa State Fair is in full gear with games, animals, vendors and, last but not least, new foods. While it is hard to pick a favorite from so many eligible contenders, the Butter Cow Tornado and the Scotcheroo Shake have won over the hearts of many so far.

Aside from new foods making appearances at the fair, political candidates running for election have also been trying to get in front of Iowans. There's been a lot of hand shaking, food eating and pork patty flipping as candidates bear the heat to participate in the time-honored tradition of talking to fairgoers.
