The Edmonton Stingers took a tough loss to the Calgary Surge in the play-in for the Western Conference playoffs of the Canadian Elite Basketball League, losing 95-103.

The Stingers played tough all game, entering halftime up two points when Calgary went on an 11-0 run. Edmonton clawed its way back with a run of its own but crumbled in crunch time and failed to secure the win.

Edmonton’s ball play was not on the mark, with the team only scoring 16 assists compared to Calgary’s 28. Additionally, the Stingers shot worse, with team-wide stats of 53% from 2-point range (Calgary had 61%) and 31% from outside of the three-point line (Calgary shot 37% from deep). Despite the differences between the two teams being relatively small, those small differences in efficiency were what decided the game
