SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — State law enforcement is preparing for the end of the 100 Deadliest Days by focusing on stopping drug and alcohol related deaths on Utah roads.
The Utah Highway Patrol is making their final push to urge drivers to find a sober ride.
Over 250 extra DUI enforcement shifts will be worked statewide until Labor Day. To make it happen, nearly 50 different Utah law enforcement agencies are chipping in to make it happen.
“We don't want to go out there and particularly make more DUI arrests. We want people on the front end to make better choices that way. Law enforcement doesn't have to go out there and make these DUI arrests,” said Lt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol.
