BULLHEAD CITY — Harmful blue-green algae blooms have been spotted in some coves on Lake Mohave, the National Parks Services reported on Friday in a social media post. Also known as cyanobacteria, the blue-green algae makes its appearance here when water temperature, weather and nutrient availability is just right. Humans should not swim or wade in harmful blue-green algae blooms, as the toxins can cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, digestive issues, breathing problems, seizures or unexplained illness. Visitors to the lake are also advised to keep pets out of the bright green water.
