San Francisco artists, businesspeople and charity workers will walk the runway later this month at a fashion show raising money for a Bay Area nonprofit providing specialized care to minimize the suffering of children and young adults with serious medical conditions.

Union Square’s Beacon Grand Hotel on Aug. 27 will host “An Evening of Fashion and Philanthropy," a fundraiser benefitting George Mark Children’s House . Bay Area fashion designer Lily Samii is donating 20 gowns from her private collection, with the proceeds of the night’s live auction benefiting the San Leandro-based nonprofit whose East Bay facility provides medical care in a home-like setting.

“I thought my days of runway shows were behind me,” Samii said. “But the children of George Mark called me back.”
