BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A Bismarck teacher has been awarded North Dakota History Teacher of the Year.
Recipient Landen Schmeichel teaches at Bismarck’s Legacy High School.
This award is presented annually by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and is coordinated by our State’s Historical Society.
Schmeichel said he is honored to receive the award and promote history education.
“There’s a lot of great lessons that we can learn from history, and understanding that history doesn’t necessarily repeat itself, but it often does rhyme when we can identify those rhythms, perhaps we can make some changes in the future, fostering a better loving and more caring society,” said Schmeichel.
