WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg City Council on Thursday agreed to use a new parking management system.

Council members unanimously voted to authorize the city manager to enter a contract with Passport Labs, the vendor used by Colonial Williamsburg and William & Mary for their paid parking lots.

In 2018, the city moved to using NuPark, a cloud-based parking management system that currently handles the city’s parking permits, citations, enforcement and payments. Shortly after, NuPark was bought by a larger company and is now being terminated. As a result, the city has been looking into other parking management systems to replace NuPark, which is set to end on Aug. 15.
