TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida shipped off a group of people accused of residing illegally in the U.S. as part of its first “deportation flight,” which took off Friday from Tallahassee.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the flight Friday via a post on X, saying it was a joint effort between the Florida Highway Patrol and ICE.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) shared the attorney general’s post on X, saying, “The first of many more to come! Florida Highway Patrol will continue to deliver results and lead the way on combatting illegal immigration. Nobody does it better.”

It is unclear how many people were on Friday’s flight or where the plane was heading.

The flight comes amid a national and statewide crackdown on illegal immigration
