No other Red Sox player has accomplished what Trevor Story did on Friday night.

The Boston Red Sox shortstop stole his 21st consecutive base. The last time he was caught stealing was in his final game of the 2024 season, just before a shoulder injury ended his year.

«It’s fun,» said the veteran infielder after Friday’s game against the Miami Marlins. «That’s a challenge. You know, it’s kind of the game within the game. I pride myself on trying to be safe when I go, just ’cause when I came up, Nolan [Arenado] and CarGo were hitting behind me, and if I got thrown out I was going to hear from them.»

Trevor Story is the first Red Sox player ever to steal 21 consecutive bases, according to Elias Sports. Stolen bases in the American League have been officially tracked since 1920.
