ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - High school football season is gearing up and that means another season of learning the sport’s good and sometimes the ugly for young athletes.

During a pre-season scrimmage between Rowan County High School (RCHS) and Bourbon County High School (BCHS), a multi-player fight broke out, getting the Kentucky High School Athletic Association involved.

“Whether it’s a physical sport or not, that type of physical altercation should not ever happen,” Perkins said.

Cassandra Perkins is a mom of two RCHS football players.

She said before her sons’ preseason scrimmage against BCHS in early August, she and her fellow football moms hadn’t seen a game turn this violent.
