Canadian Forces Base Shilo is changing its access to the base effective Sept. 15.

The change includes civilians and military personnel, according to a Thursday news release.

The north gate will be closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and all day on weekends and holidays.

People can still access the base through the main (south) gate, which will be staffed 24-7.

Everyone who comes on the base will be required to go through an identification check. This will bring CFB Shilo’s security posture in line with other Canadian Armed Forces locations, said Lt.-Col. Jack Nguyen, the base’s commanding officer.

“CFB Shilo needs to align its access policy with that of all other Canadian Armed Forces installations in Canada,” Nguyen stated in the release.
