Justin Slaten is pretty close to facing hitters again for the first time in almost three months.
The righty has spent the last two and a half months dealing with a shoulder inflammation, but he is getting ready to help the Boston Red Sox in the final stretch of the season—and possibly the playoffs.
«Slaten is scheduled to throw a live BP,” said manager Alex Cora on Friday. “Not to worry about how he feels. Just worry about his mechanics and pitch shapes and all that, which is a great sign.”
The Red Sox reliever also had another side session on Friday at Fenway Park.
“He’s feeling really good,” Cora added.
The Justin Slaten update was one of the few pieces of news the team had regarding its injured players.
