More than 100 unionized health care workers held an informational picket at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center on Oahu and Kaiser Lahaina Clinic on Maui this evening as frustration mounts over the progress of contract negotiations.

The national contract for more than 60,000 Kaiser Permanente workers across the U.S., including nearly 2,000 Kaiser workers in Hawaii, is set to expire on Sept. 30.

The Kaiser workers in the isles are represented by Unite Here Local 5 and Hawaii Nurses and Healthcare Professionals, which are part of the greater Alliance of Health Care Unions.
