Vt. community radio stations concerned about impacts of federal cuts

Vermont’s community radio stations say they are concerned about potential impacts of the Rescissions Act of 2025, signed into law in late July.

The act eliminates federal funding to public broadcasting and will result in the closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. While most Vermont community stations are volunteer-run and receive no direct CPB funding, local community radio stations fear consequences, especially when it comes to public safety communications during natural disasters such as floods.
