A grassroots football club that has served its community for nearly half a century "could fold" unless an ongoing row with the local parish council is resolved soon, its chairman has warned.

Board members at Clenchwarton FC, near King's Lynn, said they were "stunned" when the club was sent three years' worth of backdated invoices which were far higher than expected.

Chairman Ben Hails, 41, said the club had a gentleman's agreement in place to rent the village pitches for £66 a month, but the parish council had requested £150 a month instead.

Mr Hails stressed that the club would be "more than happy" to pay the revised figure of £150 going forward
