Bobby Whitlock, who has died aged 77, was a keyboard player, singer and songwriter whose work graced albums by the likes of George Harrison , the Rolling Stones, Delaney & Bonnie and Stephen Stills; but his greatest claim to fame was his contribution to Derek and the Dominos and their 1970 double album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, which inexplicably failed to chart in the UK at the time, though it has since been acclaimed by many as Eric Clapton’s finest work.
