Wilkes-Barre, PA – A man was found bleeding outside an apartment building in the early morning hours Friday in what police are investigating as a violent assault.

Medics were already on scene loading the injured man onto a stretcher when officers arrived just after 5:30 a.m. on North Washington Street.

Officers noted visible blood on the building’s outside steps and signs of a physical struggle nearby.

The victim, identified only as a Black male, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, though the extent of those injuries has not been released. Investigators from the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department were joined by the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit to process the scene and gather evidence.
