Last week was the busiest week of the year for Scotland's rail network - with two million people travelling by train as music legends Oasis rocked Murrayfield. ‌

The Edinburgh Festival also brought hundreds of thousands of revellers to the capital by train, as ScotRail hailed the importance of concerts to the economy. ‌

It comes ahead of more big shows as AC/DC are also set to play at the home of Scottish Rugby, with a gig scheduled for Thursday of this week . ‌

Around 328,000 people travelled with ScotRail last Friday, August 8, 2025, which was 19 per cent more passengers than on the same day last year.

A further 327,000 used the trains on Saturday, which was up 12 per cent on 2024. Those are the busiest days on the ScotRail network since December 14, 2024.
