The timing was just a coincidence.
But it wasn’t lost on Craig Stefureak that the biggest win in his golfing career, at the PGA Championship of Canada, came less than two weeks before the Hamilton-Halton Junior Golf Tour wrapped up its 42nd season.
That’s because Stefureak, now 28, won three titles on the HHJGT when he was in his teens.
Stefureak, who grew up in Caledonia, won the tour’s bantam division in 2010 and the junior title a year later, while still a bantam. In 2012, he took the junior title again.
“I think that helped give me the confidence to pursue the game, and that I could compete at the next level,” said Stefureak, who comes from an athletic family.
