MOTORSPORTS NOTEBOOK: Wythe Raceway reguar Terry Davis knows speed and cool cars

Terry Davis has one of the most fearsome machines and coolest jobs on the weekly racing scene.

Meet the driver of the white 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle in the Vintage Sportsman class at Wythe Raceway.

“Racing this car makes me feel like I’m 16 again,” Davis said.

Over the past two seasons at the high-banked Rural Retreat dirt track, Davis has stormed to nine wins.

No matter where Davis finishes, he draws raves for the sound and speed of his spotless ride. Like several Wythe regulars, Davis relies on horsepower from famed Buck Racing Engines.

“By the end of the straightaways, we’re hitting around 108-110 miles per hour,” Davis said. “It’s a blast.”
