MARION COUNTY, Fla. – An Ocala man died and a Belleview woman was arrested in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on State Road 35 near SE 102 Place Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the 28-year-old woman was driving a sedan with the 27-year-old man riding as a passenger as they traveled south on S.R. 35.

The driver failed to safely negotiate a curve toward the right and the sedan exited the roadway, entering the west grass shoulder while rotating, the report states.

Troopers believe the woman was wearing a seat belt in the crash while the man was not. The sedan struck a wooden fence, then a large tree, ejecting the man, according to the report. The man came to rest on
