MASON — More than 2,000 people in the Mason area were without power the morning of Aug. 16, according to the Consumers Energy outage map .
Crews are assessing the problem and expect to have power restored by 1 p.m., the map said.
"The outage was caused by an equipment issue in a substation on Kipp Road," spokesman Brian Wheeler said. "We're not sure what caused the problem initially, but crews are on site currently."
Power was lost shortly before 8 a.m., according to the outage map.
