Body found after man, 27, got into difficulties in river

Police who were searching for a man who got into difficulty in a river have confirmed a body has been recovered. Police Scotland said the body of a 27-year-old man had been found at about 5.20pm on Friday, August 15 from the Moncrieffe Island area in Perth.

Extensive searches had been carried out involving mountain rescue, the police air support unit, the dive and marine unit and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The operation was launched after a report of three men in the River Tay on Thursday evening, with two men found at the time and subsequently checked by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Police Scotland said on Saturday that formal identification of the dead man had still to take place, and that inquiries are ongoing.
