SCOTIA — will join a growing number of communities with a 25 mph speed limit this fall after village lawmakers on Wednesday unanimously approved legislation to , in hopes of addressing growing safety concerns.
Mayor David Bucciferro said the village plans to begin implementing the change sometime this fall, following months of discussion. The change from the current 30 mph will apply only to village streets, not state-operated roadways like Route 50 and Route 147, better known as Sacandaga Road. The reduction will apply only to Mohawk Avenue from the Western Gateway Bridge to Vine Street.
