LIVONIA – Several Monroe County Region cross country teams stayed up late to open their seasons in the Livonia Lamplighter Invitational on Friday, Aug. 16.
“It's not often we get to line up for a race at what should be past our bedtime at 10 p.m.,” Dundee coach Craig Ringbloom said. “The night races definitely make this meet special.”
Gibraltar Carlson freshman Madison Slade won the girls junior varsity flight one race with a time of 22:50.2. Teammates Tricia VonHolten, Casha Grzywacz and Isabelle Schreiber were 9th,14th and 19th, respectively, in that race.
“The team was lit up both literally, running under the lanterns of the trail, and figuratively with their speed to open their season under new coaching duo Erin Torres and Amy Hulderman,” Hulderman said of the Carlson performance.
