The founder of a nonprofit aimed at helping people who suddenly find themselves thrust into the role of primary caretakers for their grandchildren was acquitted on a single count of endangering the welfare of children after a short trial before Common Pleas Court Judge Dominic Pileggi.
Rhea Kelsall, 65, Media, founder of Gratitude 4 Grandparents, was accused in 2023 with her fiancé , Carl Haner IV, 66, of abusing two children in her care.
Most of the charges against Kelsall were dismissed following a preliminary hearing in August 2023, but charges against Haner for aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault and endangering the welfare of children were held over for court.
Haner was convicted on the simple assault and endangerment charges Thursday, but acquitted on all others.
