The Sterling Heights Fire Department’s Station No. 1 is sporting a new face on its clock tower these days.
In fact, the four-story tower has three faces, all representing the manpower of the city’s firefighters.
The faces are part of a public art installation atop the station on Van Dyke Avenue at 17 Mile Road includes two back-lit illustrations of a Sterling Heights Fire Department badge, the American flag, and silhouettes of three firefighters.
Local designer Leslie Dorchen recently joined members of the city council and arts commission for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally dedicate the artwork. She said she feels “good about” the finished product.
