SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - On Thursday afternoon, the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit were investigating an illegal drug distribution out of a home on Manchester Terrace.

During the investigation, police identified the suspect at 24-year-old Shaunty Jenkins, who had an outstanding warrant out at Springfield District Court. Detectives were eventually able to locate Jenkins in the 200 block of Union Street.

Police began to conduct a traffic stop on Jenkins, then he drove his vehicle into a Hampden County Sheriff’s Office cruiser with its emergency lights turned on. The two Sheriff’s Deputies were taken to Baystate Medical Center to evaluate their injuries.
