AUBURN, Ala. ( WSFA ) - An Auburn legend and three-sport athlete will be recognized at this year’s Iron Bowl for his extraordinary accomplishments.
Auburn Athletics will honor the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards, Bo Jackson, at the Iron Bowl this fall to commemorate the 40th anniversary of his 1985 Heisman season.
That season, the Bessemer native tallied 17 rushing touchdowns while averaging 6.4 yards per carry. Jackson became Auburn’s second Heisman Trophy recipient 40 years ago after rushing for 1,786 yards, the second-best single-season performance in Southeastern Conference history.
Regarded as one of the greatest athletes ever, Jackson played football, baseball, and ran track at Auburn from 1982-86. He later played professionally in the NFL and MLB.
