Amtrak, a word coined from the words "America" and "track," has been in service since 1971, catering to 46 states in America and three Canadian provinces: British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. With more than 500 stations, Amtrak serves more than 30 million passengers a year, many of whom are from the largest metropolitan areas, traveling whether for work, vacation, or the usual day-to-day commute.
