There was an expectation heading into this year’s trade deadline that at least one of the Seattle Mariners’ top prospects would be on the move.

When the dust settled, the Mariners made two of the biggest deals before the deadline, landing Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suárez in separate trades with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yet Seattle didn’t have to dip into its deep pool of touted of prospects to acquire those players.

According to MLB Pipeline’s rankings, the top farmhand Seattle parted with was ninth-ranked first baseman Tyler Locklear, who was the headliner of the deal for Suárez.
