Denver has been ranked as one of the US's fittest cities, according to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) American Fitness Index.
The Mile High City took fifth place overall in the rankings of America's most fit cities. With Denver's exercise culture and proximity to the Rocky Mountains, it's not surprising that the city ranked so highly.
Two other Colorado cities, Colorado Springs and Aurora, also ranked on the list – 37th and 27th, respectively.
Colorado Springs even ranked among the top ten cities for the trails miles/100,000 residents indicator, a new indicator this year. According to All Trails, Colorado Springs has 211 hiking trails, 185 running trails, 170 walking trails, and even more.
The overall fittest state was Arlington, Virginia.
