NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Saints announced Saturday (Aug. 16) that rookie Tyler Shough will start at quarterback in this weekend’s preseason game against Jacksonville.

Shough, the team’s second-round draft pick out of Louisville, will face the Jaguars in the Saints’ noon game Sunday at Caesars Superdome.

Second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler started last weekend’s exhibition opener, a 27-13 loss to the Chargers in Los Angeles. Rattler completed 7 of 11 passes in that game for just 53 yards and no touchdowns.

Shough, 25, relieved Rattler in that game and hit Mason Tiptop on a 54-yard scoring strike for New Orleans’ only touchdown. Shough completed 15 of 22 passes for 165 yards, but also was intercepted once.
