Vancouver police are investigating after a 55-year-old man was struck by a Blacktop Taxi Friday night, fatally injuring the man.

The victim was struck at the intersection of Smithe and Cambie Street just after 10 p.m.

The collision is now being investigated by VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit, and they are asking for witnesses or anyone with dashcam video to come forward to assist with the investigation.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the taxi suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene.
