A tanker truck driver was killed Saturday morning after a fiery crash on U.S. 90 Alternate at Fondren, according to the Houston Fire Department.
As of 2:30 p.m., southbound lanes of U.S. 90 at Fondren remain closed and are expected to stay shut down for two to four hours. Northbound lanes are open, and train traffic through the area has resumed.

The crash was reported around 9:15 a.m. and involved only the 18-wheeler fuel tanker, which was carrying 8,800 gallons of gasoline. Fire crews had to close the freeway and stop train traffic in the area as they worked to extinguish the blaze.
