We’re about a half hour from the San Francisco 49ers’ starting offense taking the field. Starting quarterback Brock Purdy is on the field and stretching as if he’s preparing to play:
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he wanted to get the starters some action against the Las Vegas Raiders. How many series do you want to see them play?
Ideally, Purdy and the first-team offense march down the field and score a touchdown on the opening drive, and Purdy’s jersey remains clean. That would make Shanahan’s decision easy. But if Purdy and the offense put up a dud and go three-and-out, you’re not going to pull the plug and let them end the day on a down note.
Defensively, don’t expect to see many, if any, starters. The options are already slim. Outside of Fred Warner, Dee Winters, and Deommodore Leno
