ABINGDON, Va. (WJHL) — Abingdon's annual Town-Wide Yard Sale took place on Saturday.

Held each August, the event brings together locals and visitors for shopping and strolling throughout Abingdon neighborhoods.

Private homeowners, churches and non-profits all took part in the event.

One group having a sale was the Washington County Animal Defense League. They use the sale to raise money to help people be able to spay and neuter their pets.

"Some years we have just ordinary glassware and usual yard sale stuff, and then other years we have very eclectic kinds of donations," Animal Defense League Board Member Linda Fritsch said. "There's something for everybody, but we do have a lot of pet supplies."

The Town-Wide Yard Sale was sponsored by Visit Abingdon.
