ASHTON, Idaho — Firefighters continued battling a now 851-acre wildfire Friday that has forced evacuations and destroyed at least one structure west of Ashton, Idaho.

According to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) , the Sand Creek fire, located eight miles west of Ashton near the Lower Arcadia Reservoir, prompted Fremont County officials to issue evacuation orders for the Sand Creek Ponderosa and Cedar Ridge subdivisions, including all areas within a five-mile radius near Sadorus.

Crews from the U.S. Forest Service's Caribou-Targhee National Forest and the BLM Idaho Falls District worked through the night to construct fire lines between Lower Arcadia and Mikesell 2 reservoirs, the BLM said in a Friday morning update.
