INDIANAPOLIS -- The end of the Colts quarterback competition sounds imminent.

For the first time, Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen acknowledged a decision is coming soon between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones.

“I’m very close,” Steichen said after the 23-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers in their second preseason game. “I’ll say that.”

Steichen has said he will meet with general manager Chris Ballard and owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon before making the final choice between the two.

“I’d like to have a decision here shortly,” Steichen said. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.
