Alberta RCMP are looking for a woman following a dog bite incident in the Alderwood neighbourhood of St. Albert.

Mounties responded to the neighbourhood around 7:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a dog bite.

Reports indicate that a 61-year-old woman was walking her dog, when she and her dog were bitten by a large black dog.

Due to the incident, the woman was taken to hospital by paramedics, where she underwent surgery. The dog was taken to a veterinarian for injuries it suffered on its hind legs.

Police have since canvassed the neighbourhood in an attempt to identify the black dog and its owner.

It is believed that a young woman was walking with the dog around the time of the incident. She has been described as around 18 to 20-years-old with brown hair.
