SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Hundreds joined the American Heart Association on Saturday at Fawick Park in Sioux Falls, hoping to turn bystanders into lifesavers.
The Sioux Falls Heart Walk invited people to learn CPR and learn about how powerful it is when helping someone suffering from cardiac arrest.
The walk was also a get-together for some people affected by heart disease themselves or have family that suffer from it.
For them, it helps to share their stories and bring awareness.
“I had open heart surgery back in 2018. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to bring more awareness to listening to your body, and being an advocate for yourself, so that you can bring that awareness,” said participant Maria Taylor.
