OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Healthcare workers are major parts of all of our lives. For babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU, they are essential.
One Omaha hospital is reuniting patients and caregivers who have special ties to its NICU.
There were a lot of hugs and smiling faces outside of Methodist Women’s Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 16.
12 years ago, Bianca Garcia was inside the hospital ready to give birth.
“They mean a lot to us still this many years later,” Garcia said.
She said it was quite the journey to get pregnant after having two other children.
“I still get emotional because I wanted it so bad, you know,” Garcia said. “And here they are.”
Garcia gave birth to quintuplets at 28 weeks. Now Marah, Christobal, Arleth, Jimena and Rosalyn are 12 years old.
